The Power of Social Media
We often hear about the dangers and negative side of the Internet & social media. It is popular and easy to sensationalize the negative, and many of us often react in a knee-jerk, overreacting way. Yes, there are dark sides to the Internet, yet, this media is not going away, we should approach it thoughtfully , and critically and we need to use it appropriately. It is incumbent on all of us - parents and educators - to model good digital citizenship.
We have seen the power of social media in many ways - helping in disasters such as the tsunami & earth quake in Japan & New Zealand, the floods in Australia and in the revolutions in the Mid-East. There are many smaller examples too, below are some examples that show the power of the Internet & social media for good.
